This past weekend we tried Bangkok City.  Once entering the place I was really excited about my meal because I saw so many "Best Restaurant" awards.  We were seated within a few minutes of walking in the door.  I loved the authentic Thai decor.  Our waitress greeted us and took our drink orders. Wanting to try something new, I tried the Thai sweet tea.  I am sorry to say I was not a fan.  My waitress graciously exchanged it for a good ole fashion Coke!  In the can with a glass of ice.  I will take a can soda over fountain hands down!

It took me a little bit to notice because we were having such a good time that we hadn't ordered! It had been like 30 minutes.  What clued me in is that folks that came in after us were eating!  Finally our waitress came over and asked if we had ordered.  Um if you didn't take our order, we ain't ordered! DUH!  So once we ordered I got the Won Ton soup and the Mongolian Beef.

My soup appetizer was excellent! After waiting for an hour to eat, I expected my food to at least be nice and hot.  It was medium temperature.  I tend not to send food back unless I just really cannot eat it for fear that items might be added to the recipe!! After reviewing the menu I didn't catch that the dish is served with peanuts.  If I had of caught it I would have requested without.  So instead I just picked around the nuts.  The entree was not bad.  But it also wasn't anything to write home to momma about. (text either) :)

Like I mentioned before we had a great time just visiting.  It was a group of four this time.  We actually shut the place down.  For one waiting an hour to eat and then just enjoying our time.  We were there for over two hours.  Our table may have gotten a little loud at times.  Definately not the place for that!  We got stares from a few fun snatchers!  So if you choose to dine here make sure that you are quiet about it! It was a nice experience trying something new but I won't be back.

I am going to have to give Bangkok,

This past Saturday we decided to try something a little more ethnic, Thai food! Tameca chose Bangkok City Restaurant in Dallas. We were pretty anxious to try their food and check it out! As we walked in we really thought it was a cute small restaurant with very suiting décor! Tameca even dressed the part! (really though?!?!)

The service as we first came in was great and we had to take pics right away! After waiting for a bit and enjoying ourselves with our company that joined us, we were wondering what was taking so long for them to come take our order! We had ordered our drinks and appetizers, but we were ready to eat! I shared an appetizer, we got the Satay...grilled marinated chicken on skewer with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. It was delicious btw!

So after about an hour and many laughs we were finally able to place our orders! Thank goodness we can entertain ourselves! I went with the Gai-Yang, Thai stlyle marinated BBQ chicken served with sweet and sour sauce and rice. I have to say it was very good but the presentation just looked like someone threw a chicken on my plate and not very authentic. ( I don't know what I was expecting, I did order BBQ chicken at a Thai restaurant!)

Overall I thought the food was good. I was disappointed in the service and expected a little more of an ethnic feel to it! I don't think I will return though, a little too quiet and tables too close for comfort.... because when we dine we like to enjoy our time and our food!
