Today we tried an Italian Café.  Very cute little eatery in Las Colinas.  They have dine in, bar area, patio as well as a to go section.  When we walked in we were greeted and advised to sit anywhere we like.  We made the mistake by sitting next to a family with two little girls.  Before the waiter had time to take our drink orders one of the little girls start screaming at the top of her lungs.  I mean it was ear piercing!  That went on for about the first 10 minutes of our stay.  Soon after that their check came and they bounced!  Thank God for Jesus!

I ordered the Grilled Salmon and Shrimp.  The meal comes with a garden salad and a basket full of bread.  This bread chile!! Let's just say I was about full before my meal even came.  I love me some bread.  And fresh bread gets my rocks off! With that being said, the bread was excellent.

My meal came while I was still stuffing my face with bread.  It was piping hot, you could even see the steam still coming from the plate. The presentation was beautiful, and the taste was even better.  My only complaint was that they were being stingy with the shrimp.  I only had two shrimp.  The two I had were good.  The salmon was served with a vegetable medley and a tomato based sauce.  The salmon was very moist and had great flavor.

Half way through my meal I needed to unbutton my jeans.  I was stuffed!  And most importantly, still have some left for lunch!!

Our waiter was Santos.  Nice dude and very easy on the eyes(How you doin')!

The best part about my meal was the check!  This outing just kept getting better and better!  I had salad, serving of the best bread ever, soda and an entrée all for under 20 bucks!  Now that's what I'm talking about!

I will definitely visit Italian Café again.  Maybe next time it will be a date! (keep hope alive)

Tonight we chose Italian... located in the cutest little spot in little Europe (as close as I will get to it until the kids leave the nest) in Las Colinas, Texas! The area is simply beautiful, so after you eat have a walk around town. Italian Café is small and cozy but they also have two outdoor eating areas, one closer to the bar, the other to the café. We ate inside at a little table by the window... who doesn't like the window seat?!

I ordered the egg plant parmaigiana, "breaded Napols style egg plant fried until golden brown finished with a mixture of marinara and cream sauce." as stated on the menu. When you order your entrée if your not too hungry, no need for a appetizer... they serve a salad included with the meal and a warm basket of heavenly bread right away! My egg plant was delicious, served hot and prompt and the portion was more than enough, kudos to the chef. I brought home leftovers for the hubby (keep the peace when you don't cook at home)!

The service is amazing, we had Santos and he was as polite and attentive as one could possibly be, he knows his menu too! If ever a need to be extra gracious with your tip!

The only negative thing I can say is where the bathroom is located but keep in mind it is a café folks!

As an extra bonus when asked to take our picture,  I didn't catch his name but he was more than obliging and even took two to make sure we liked it... yes, finally someone else who understands the importance of that! I will definitely be back!

Chino Chinatown

Chino Chinatown
3011 Gulden, Suite 110
Dallas, TX 75212
At Trinity Groves

This was my first time at the Trinity Grove strip and we chose to try out Chino Chinatown for dinner.
They describe themselves as, " Latin Spice meets Asian Fusion." I call it Chino Latino!

I would say the ambiance is nice, the décor is modern but simple, mixing the Latin and Chinese vibe together. We dined inside but if I go back again I would definitely choose outdoor dining, there was more of a fun feel  outside. It is a small restaurant but the booths are roomy!

The menu is definitely a little confusing so be sure to ask about your meal choice before ordering, I personally do not like surprises!

I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken, because who doesn't like chicken?!? I have to say I did not fall drunk in love with this meal, nothing spectacular or different, basically a stir fry and I have to say the chicken was a little dry but overall I did not get any surprises... so I got what I asked for!

No drinks for me this time but a little lime water, I left the drinking to Tameca because lets be honest she handles her liquor better!

I do have to say our waitress was very nice and informative, so if you dine there say Hi to Miranda!

I would probably dine here again and give some of their other options on their menu a try!

Cake Bar

For dessert we headed over to the cutest little bakery, Cake Bar. I bought a slice of Italian Cream cake. This piece was a slice of Heaven! Nice size too! The icing was to die for and it had plenty of pecans for me. I am sure it was a couple thousand calories in that one slice. Definitely not for the skinny heffas watching their little stick figures. The staff was great, even burst out in song (candle and all) because it was my mom's birthday. I took my piece to go but there was a small seating area for those who wanted to take their poison in public. I brought mine home so I could lick my fingers and tap the crumbs on the table with my finger tips without judgement! Just know you need to add a few extra minutes on the elliptical after your visit! Who am I kidding, I haven't been to the gym in months!

We tried a spot at the new Trinity Grove strip, Chino Chinatown.  Let's just say if an Asian and a Latino had a baby and the baby opened a restaurant, this is what it would look like. The decor on one wall was Latin and Asian on the other.

The menu was hard to read because I didn't understand the descriptions, so I asked the waitress for suggestions.

My drink was the Calle Capon. Whoa baby, watch out! That drink was on FIYA! Mmm Mmm good! It was a little sweet with a spicy kick. This drink is not for sissies. The glass is quite small. When it came I was like really.. Then I took a sip. If the glass was any bigger, Catherine would have been carrying me out the joint! Have you seen her?? Yeah, that wasn't gonna happen!

I first tried the chicken lollipops (aka chicken drummets). Good flavor, sweet and garlicky. For my entree I had the Duck Fat Fried Rice. Which was basically their take on fried rice with shrimp, Chinese sausage, roasted pork,  duck breast and a sunny side egg on top. Very tasty and the portion was a nice size. I love restaurants that give me enough for lunch tomorrow.

I chased my entree down with a soda. They serve the Cokes from Mexico in the bottles. Love those too. They are a tad bit sweeter than the ones in Dallas.

The atmosphere was nice. You have the choice to dine in the restaurant or on the patio. The service was a little slow for the restaurant not to be very busy. The restrooms were not selfie approved but clean enough to handle your business and get back to your table.

I think the restaurant is date approved. Not noisy and the tables are spaced well enough so that if you were to tell your life story (I hope no one does that on a date) your neighbor wouldn't hear it.

Our waitress was Miranda. She was a doll, very attentive and knew her menu.

We were eating with royalty, so to respect the Queen's privacy her image has been blurred!
