Main Street Bistro & BAkery

Main Street Bistro & Bakery

Grapevine, TX 76051

This past week we had the pleasure of dining in Downtown Grapevine.  We tried Main St. Bistro & Bakery.

Upon first entrance I was a little confused on what to do.  The restaurant is on one side and the bakery is on the other.  The door to the restaurant was locked.  After we stood there a few moments we were greeted and walked through what we needed to do.  We ordered our lunch at the bakery counter and received a number for our table.  It was self seating, so we chose a little booth in the back of the restaurant.  I ordered the Pasta Mardi Gras and a large Mimosa.  The wait was minimum.

Oh my goodness! This dish was delish!  The best ever.  I had never had this ever in life so I can't really compare it to others.  It consists of pasta, shrimp, scallops, sausage in some kind of sauce.  It was superb.  My mimosa was also great but I don't think anyone can screw up champagne and orange juice!
The restaurant itself was a cute little spot.  As I looked around I noticed that there were several people there with their laptops.  So I am assuming it doubles as a sort of coffee house for downtown Grapevine.

All in all it was a nice lunch outing.  The food was great and the atmosphere was pleasant.  The people were also nice.  The gentleman at the table next to us didn't mind me asking for his pickle! (it looked so good and he wasn't going to eat it!! WASTE NOT!)

Last Monday we went out to eat just for you! We decided on a French bistro. I have been there before for lattes on the bakery side, but never to dine.

This bistro is so cute! You can choose the bakery side for desserts and coffee/ lattes, or you can dine in the dining room which is nice and cozy. If you choose, there are tables out front as well... so nice, like a little piece of France in Texas!

We went at lunch time so you have to place your order and pay at the register in the bakery. If you go in the evening they come to you just like anywhere else. I have no idea why this is the case!

I ordered the crepe bistro which consists of cob smoked ham, mornay, Swiss and a side bistro salad. I have to say it was delicious! I ordered a latte for my dessert, a pumpkin spice chai tea latte. I must admit, I do go there just for their lattes alone, and it's a little bit of a drive! Look below at how pretty my food is!

The atmosphere is nice and casual, just what you would expect at a bistro.
I did use the restroom after that latte and they were nice too, nothing fancy but decorated nicely and clean... always a plus! However, when I returned, to my dismay Tameca was finishing a pickle she had been eyeing off of some man's plate! Yes, she asked him for his pickle!

I have to tell you our waitress and waiter forgot our utensils but overall they were polite.
I will definitely go back to dine.

The atmosphere and where it is located is right up my alley! Historic downtown Grapevine is beautiful and quaint with a lot to see and do, ie... shop and dine!

Dallas, Texas 75201

This past weekend we had the treat of visiting St. Ann restaurant and bar.  I had heard about it but had never been.  We actually were scheduled to visit the weekend prior but canceled due to rain.  I had my heart set on dining on the patio.  So we waited.  Best decision ever!! St. Ann is right behind the American Airlines Center.  They have complimentary valet so no worries about parking.

It is an old Catholic school building converted into a beautiful restaurant with a full museum on the top floor.  I took a peek in when I went to the ladies room.  It had museumy stuff in it! (Yes, I made up a word!)  I didn't go in.

We chose the backside of the patio with cushion booth like benches.  It was a nice day out with a little breeze.  They have you covered just in case you catch a little chill with portable heaters.

Brunch is from 11-3.  We sat down right at 2:55.  Our waitress advised if we hurried we could still get the brunch menu.  So we hurried! I ordered the omelet with bacon, sausage, tomato, spinach and mushroom.  I would have ordered onions but I was sharing with my 6 year old who despises onions! I know, just crazy.  Hopefully he will grow out of it so I can stop using the chopper to disguise them when cooking!

Oh, I forgot my drink order.  Well what goes with brunch?? Mimosa of course! No complaints.  I'll say I enjoyed since I had two!

My omelet came piping hot, it was served with fried potatoes.  This was a treat for me.  Remember we rushed to beat the clock so I didn't even know potatoes came with it!  It was DA BOMB!  It was also very filling! I was sharing, it was plenty food for the both of us.

After eating our brunch we just hung out on the patio and enjoyed Dallas weather.  This is a great place to hang with girlfriends as well as dates.
I enjoyed my food as well as the atmosphere.  It is not a cheap date kinda place so make sure you check the menu before going. My total was $34 but I did have two Mimosas.

All in all my experience was great!  I will be back.
The Elevator!  Yes it has a fricken elevator!

We have been out and about eating out again! So this Saturday we decided to have brunch in the city. Tameca chose Saint Ann's restaurant. Bravo on her choice! This restaurant actually used to be a catholic school...how fitting for two former Catholic school girls!😄

We walked up to the beautiful patio with strung lights and music playing, a more casual feel than dining inside which was very nice as well. Of course you can choose the bar for a more casual indoor feel and well of course drinking!

We brought along Tameca's youngest son, so we chose the patio, but anytime it's beautiful out we choose patio dining!

We were just in time for the brunch menu!
I ordered the steak and eggs which came with yummy potatoes! It's a ribeye, two sunny side eggs, ranchero and house potatoes for $28
I thought my steak would be a little better for the price, but I'm not going to lie... I was starving, so down it went!

After eating we stayed and chatted for a bit, business matters of course....but then we noticed a waiter moved our outdoor heating lamp and it was starting to get chilly out! Umm is that a hint or are we not just as important as the people you were moving it for!?! Wow!

Well we had to visit the ladies room which was upstairs where there is also a museum...super cool!!
The restroom was two chicks approved as well.

Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience and the atmosphere was a great big thumbs up!

I will be coming back for dinner very soon. I love the city and its right next to the American Airlines center, among other things. Don't you just love Dallas!
Until next time...

I am giving Saint Ann's

This past Saturday we went to Sid's Rainbow Grill, a small town diner in the very cute downtown Carrollton Texas! This restaurant is like a flashback Friday from the 50's! (Way before my time!) So much so that Tameca said she wanted to face the door when sitting because neither the restaurant nor downtown had any diversity that we could see.... if you catch my drift!

It is located in the square of the town which was decked out for the Fall holidays, hence my pic below! The diner itself is super cute, super casual and just fun to grab a quick bite if your not super picky about eating healthy, although they have salads. I would say a cute little burger joint and soda and shakes shop!

I ordered a cheeseburger, hold the bun (my gluten strike) substituted the bun with lettuce but bring me the fries!
I've learned my lesson that at most spots like this, that's the best thing on the menu.
Nothing special, not too bad either! Check out my exciting pic! lol

Our waitress was bubbly and nice and food was prompt!
I don't think I'll be back but definitely a cute diner especially for teens, more their menu style! When you're in your thirties you have to watch what you eat...IJS!!

This past weekend Catherine and I went a little more north than we have been dining.  Our plan was to just get in the car and drive until we saw something.  About 20 minutes into the drive from Catherine's house I got hungry!  So Carrollton is actually the next city over.  So we didn't make it that far.  Next time, I will eat breakfast first!

We ended up in Downtown Carrollton.  The entire strip is just delightful.  It reminds me of those small towns you see on TV.  You know the ones with the little coffee shops, boutiques and mom and pop stores.  It was just darling.  We also had another beautiful day so it was perfect for just walking around.  We stopped at Sid's Rainbow grill because I liked the sign on the window!  Yep, that is how I made my decision.

Once inside I was even more pleased.  It was just as I thought it would be cozy and homey!  They had old fashioned booths, signage and decor.  It is seat yourself, we chose a booth instead of a table.
The wait staff was friendly and very attentive.

I ordered the chicken fried steak.  It came with green beans, french fries and a roll.
Ummm.. the fries were good.  I wasn't very pleased with my meal.  The green beans tasted like they came straight out the can and the chicken fried steak had to be a frozen take on it.  The gravy had a bitter taste.  I would have preferred mash potatoes for my gravy but that wasn't an option.  So the meal was a bust... but the atmosphere was right on.  I saw a few people ordering milkshakes.  They were homemade, I should've gotten one but I didn't.  I won't lie and say next time because I doubt I will be back.

So I am going to give Sid's
Mainly for the atmosphere and price.  My meal came to nine dollars and some change!
